Rooted in Gwinnett

A Man of Integrity Ready to Lead

I am humbled by the opportunity to step forward and serve District 9 and the people of Georgia. The guidance, prayers, and confidence shown by friends, neighbors, and community leaders have been overwhelming in the best possible way.

Gwinnett County is where I've built my life. I've watched our community grow into one of Georgia's most dynamic — and I've watched families struggle under rising property taxes, gridlocked commutes, and schools that haven't kept pace with the tax dollars we pour into them.

"Thank you for believing in the next generation of leadership."

I'm not a career politician. I'm a Gwinnett neighbor who believes that government works best when it's transparent, accountable, and focused on results — not promises. That's the standard I'll hold myself to, every single day in the Georgia Senate.

I know this journey comes with great responsibility, and I am committed to listening, learning, and working hard for our community every step of the way.

Michael Johnson's platform is built on the real challenges Gwinnett County families face every day — practical conservative solutions backed by data, not partisan talking points.

Issue 01  ·  Taxes & Affordability

Transparent Tax Bills.
Real Relief.

Gwinnett homeowners are feeling squeezed. Even when millage rates hold steady, rising property values drive tax bills higher year after year. The system is fragmented across county, school, and city authorities — making it nearly impossible for families to understand what they owe and why.

  • Demand full tax-bill transparency — every mill, every authority, every dollar explained
  • Fight for real homeowner relief, not just rate freezes while values spike
  • Hold every taxing authority accountable for how your money is spent
  • Protect seniors and working families from being taxed out of their homes

Issue 02  ·  Traffic & Roads

Fix Traffic Without A 30-Year Blank Check.

Gwinnett workers average a 32.8-minute commute — and population growth makes it worse every year. In 2024, 53% of voters rejected a 1% sales tax increase lasting 30 years. That wasn't a vote against fixing traffic. It was a vote against unlimited government spending with zero accountability.

Voted NO on transit tax
  • Prioritize SR 316 and Sugarloaf Parkway Extension for commuter relief
  • Demand performance benchmarks on every transportation dollar spent
  • Oppose blank-check, multi-decade tax schemes with no accountability
  • Pursue state-level corridor funding that doesn't burden Gwinnett families

Issue 03  ·  Schools & Education

Better Results For Every School-Tax Dollar.

GCPS families pay 18.70 mills in school taxes — among the highest in the region. They deserve a graduation rate that reflects that investment. The Class of 2024 graduated at 84.1%, still 1.3 points below the Georgia state average. Our children deserve better outcomes for the dollars we spend.

  • Expand vocational and workforce readiness for every student
  • Strengthen school safety so every parent feels confident at drop-off
  • Link school budget increases directly to demonstrated academic outcomes

Issue 04  ·  Housing & Cost of Living

Keep Gwinnett Livable For Working Families.

With a median home value of $345,700 and median gross rent of $1,713 per month, housing costs are pushing Gwinnett families to the edge. Over 76,000 households spend more than 30% of their income on housing. Gwinnett County's own planning documents call this a high-priority need — it's time to act.

  • Cut red tape that drives up construction costs and stifles housing supply
  • Support first-time buyer pathways without growing government dependency
  • Stop corporate investors from pricing families out of their own neighborhoods
  • Connect housing with transportation — workers should afford to live where they work

Issue 05  ·  Public Safety

Back Prevention. Fast Response. Real Results.

Gwinnett police are delivering results — homicides dropped 25% from 2023 to 2024 with a 100% clearance rate. But property crime remains a daily burden: 10,190 larceny-thefts, 2,227 burglaries, and 1,411 motor vehicle thefts in 2024 alone. Michael will protect what works and fix what doesn't.
